Common Questions

Everything you need to know.

Each Sunday we have coffee and doughnuts, so grab some on your way into the auditorium. The service begins at 10:00 am. Our band leads us in worship and plays a variety of music ranging from modern worship songs, ancient hymns, traditional hymns composed in a more modern style, and songs written by our worship leader.

1) What can I expect the first time I come to a worship service?

Greeters will meet you as you walk in the front doors and assist you if you have children or special needs. They will show you where to go and answer any questions you might have. You’ll receive a Welcome Bag with a Missio Dei coffee traveler, printed materials about the church and children’s ministry, and a booklet on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you’d like, you may fill out an Info Card while you’re here and select to receive the Missio Weekly – an email that goes out each week telling what upcoming events are happening within the church community.

2) What should I wear?

You will find a wide range of clothing on a Sunday morning at Missio. Most people will be dressed casually and comfortably, but if you want to wear a coat and tie, then go for it. While we do not want our clothing to be a distraction for others, we know that God is more concerned about our hearts than he is our style.

3) How long do the services last?

We begin at 10:00a and shoot to end around 11:30a. The worship service is composed of music, prayer, scripture reading, a sermon, the Lord’s Supper, and a benediction.

4) Is there a nursery?

Yes. Our nursery is for children 0-23 mos. All of our workers have been part of our church family for some time and have also been through a background check. A sign-in for the children’s ministry is visible once you come in the main entrance and identification/pick-up badges are printed upon sign-in.

5) Are there other kids programs beside nursery?

Yes. Our children’s programs for 2yrs-3rd grade happen on Sunday mornings, too. Parents will check in 2-3yr olds before the service begins and those children will remain in their classroom throughout the service. Children 4yrs through 3rd grade will be checked-in before the service but will begin the service in the auditorium with their family. They will be dismissed with their teacher to their classroom before the sermon begins.

Children 4th grade and up will worship with the adults in the auditorium.

6) Why have children in the worship service before being dismissed to their class?

Children experiencing worship with their families is a wonderful time of instruction and modeling for the little ones. They get to experience what it’s like to worship God and why we do it. We pray these lessons are caught as much as taught, and serve as channels through which God works in their lives, both now and in the future.

We provide Bible-centered activity sheets for the children that may be picked up along with the service Info Guide as you enter the auditorium.

7) Where do I park?

Please park anywhere you would like on the streets surrounding our church. We are located at 1101 12th St, Huntington, WV 25701. We do not have a formal parking lot. One thing our neighbors ask is that those parking in the neighborhood be sensitive about not accidently blocking driveways.
